Police have arrested two suspects involved in a racket of swindling money from parents of young schoolchildren
Police say that following the arrest of 2 suspects on a different case and upon further investigations, the details of the racket has been revealed.
The suspects have allegedly called parents of young schoolchildren saying that they are hospitalized due to sudden illness and need urgent money for treatment.
Police further said that the suspects have reportedly cheated around Rs. 2.5 million in this manner from parents in Gampaha, Kandana, Ja Ela, Pamunugama areas.
Police have urged the general public to be vigilant on these scams. Police are conducting further investigations.
