The resignation of Piyankara Jayaratne from his post as the State Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion and Market Diversification has not been accepted by the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, President Media Division announced.

State Minister Piyankara Jayratne resigned from the Government last week, but has now decided to continue in his state ministry position after meeting President and Prime Minister this evening.

He is the 2nd MP to withdraw from the SLFP led 41 MPs independent group in Parliament.

Earlier, SLFP MP Shantha Bandara was appointed as State Agriculture Minister.
