UKRAINIAN TOURISTS TO BE RETAINED IN SRI LANKA LOOKED AFTER FREE UNTIL THE WAR ENDS

Ukrainian tourists would be looked after free – Omalpe Thera

Dr. Omalpe Sobhitha Thera says that he and his organizers are ready to take care of the Ukrainian people until the end of the war.

“We kindly inform our Ukrainian friends that we are ready to assist you,” he told a news conference yesterday.

“A large number of Ukrainians are visiting Sri Lanka as tourists. Due to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, they will not be able to return home. We saw the appeals made by Ukrainian nationals through the media. They said they will have to stay here for an indefinite period of time. They said they have no money to spend during this time. We saw in the media their appeal for help. It was heartbreaking. ”

He said that the Bodhiraja Foundation, Embilipitiya Stores (Pvt) Ltd, Embilipitiya Friends Association, Lal Perera and group are all ready to help.

He also said that the Medical and Civil Rights Trade Union Alliance has already come forward to provide facilities including medical treatment.

The Thera said that he and his team were ready to engage in this social work and requested all Sri Lankans to call the following telephone numbers and direct any Ukrainians who need assistance.
