UNP to back NCM

The United National Party has announced that the UNP will also support the proposed No-Confidence Motion to be tabled by the opposition.

Issuing a statement, Assistant Leader of the UNP former Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam requested all party leaders to agree on the next steps prior to passing a No-Confidence Motion.

Former Minister Kariyawasam said all parties must be in agreement on a post No-Confidence Motion plan to ensure stability in the country since powers of the Cabinet of Ministers will be transferred to the Head of State following the sacking of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet.

The former Minister said the No-Confidence Motion should not result in the Premier being replaced by another Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarian.
