Police protection for Veddah chief
SSP of the Badulla Division – Sujith Wedamulla has instructed the Mahiyanganaya police OIC to provide a special police escort for Vedda Chief Uruwarige Wannila Aththo.
Accordingly, two police officers are to be given for his protection.
The Mahiyanganaya police has already initiated an investigation after the Vedda chief lodged a complaint over death threats he had received.
Police officers of the Dambana tourist police post have also been ordered to stay vigilant.
