verdict of Welikada Prison case, postponed
The verdict of the 2012 Welikada Prison case has been postponed until Jan. 12.
The verdict was to be announced today (06).
Taking up the case today, the three-member Colombo High Court bench comprising Judges Gihan Kulatunga, Pradeep Hettiarachchi and Manjula Tilakaratne had announced that the verdict will be announced next week.
The case was filed by the Attorney General against former Inspector of Police of the Narcotics Bureau Neomal Rangajeewa, and former Prisons Commissioner Emil Ranjan Lamahewa for the killing of eight prisoners at the Welikada Prison.
