Veteran journalist Bandula Padmakumara no more
Veteran journalist Bandula Padmakumara has passed away while receiving treatment at a private hospital.
He was aged 71.
An iconic figure of Sri Lankan media, Bandula Padmakumara was the former Editor in Chief of ‘Irida Lakbima’ newspaper. Its tabloid – ‘Ridma’ – which is marked in history as the first tabloid of Sri Lankan newspapers, flourished under his editorship.
He also worked as the former Chairman of the state owned ‘Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited’ (ANCL) and was also noted for his appearance in TV programmes – ‘Mul Pituwa’ and ‘Loka Sithiyama’.
