2 teens eat Kaneru seeds due to orphanage warden’s brutal treatment
Two teenage girls at an orphanage being conducted by the former top LTTE leader – Kumaran Pathmanathan alias KP, have ingested Kaneru seeds (oleander) with the intention to end their lives.
The teens, aged 13 and 14, had attempted to commit suicide in this manner on March 15 and are currently at Mullaitivu hospital in critical condition.
The warden at the orphanage is said to be overly strict and brutal, beating and hurting the children constantly. Police have learnt that 05 children had fled from the orphanage only last week, unable to bear the brutal treatment any longer.
