China has donated 10.6 million litres of diesel to farmers and fishermen in remote areas of Sri Lanka, the Chinese embassy in Sri Lanka confirms.
The shipment is scheduled between November and December and will be distributed as soon as possible, the embassy Tweet adds.
Earlier today, foreign media quoted Power and Energy Minister – Kanchana Wijesekera as saying that Sri Lanka was expecting a diesel shipment from China that will possibly arrive by the end of November.
In the past 5 months, the Chinese government has already handed over 5,500 MT of rice and Rs. 3 billion worth of essential medicines as emergency humanitarian donations to the island.
