WIJEDASA RAJAPAKSHA COMMENTS ON DISCIPLINE TO BE MAINTAINED WHEN HANDING NOMINATION PAPERS

Election Commission like a ‘Kopi Kade’

National Democratic Front’s presidential candidate Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe has likened the situation at the Election Commission this morning (Aug. 15) to a ‘Kopi Kade’ in a village.

The MP criticized the Election Commission for failing to maintain discipline during the process of handing over nomination papers earlier today .

“Previously, the Election Commission maintained discipline and dignity similar to that of a court. This time, however, it resembled ‘Kopi Kade’ in a village where various cliques had formed,” he said, speaking to media after handing over his nomination papers.

Rajapakshe urged the Election Commission to maintain discipline among candidates to set an example to the public.

When asked about reports whether former President – Maithripala Sirisena, (who had initially seem to endorse Rajapakshe), was now backing Sajith Premadasa, Rajapakshe said that it would be good if it happened so.
