WOMEN’S ODI AND T 20 SERIES BETWEEN SRI LANKA AND WEST INDIES AT HAMBANTOTA FROM THE 15th JUNE

West Indies – Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket from June 15

West Indies National Women’s Cricket Team started their training at NCC Indoor Stadium yesterday to focus on three ODIs and three T20Is against Sri Lanka women’s team.

Earlier three ODIs were scheduled to play at Galle but yesterday Sri Lanka Cricket announced ODI matches will play in Hambantota on the same dates, June 15, 18 and 21 while the T-20Is will be played on June 24, 26 and 28 at the same venue, Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Hambantota.

The 15-player West Indies Women’s cricket team led by ‘ICC Player of the Month’ for April winner Hayley Matthews and Shemaine Campbelle will serve as Matthews’ deputy.

The three ODI matches that are part of the ICC Women’s Championship – where in the top five teams, alongside hosts India, will directly qualify for the Cricket World Cup in 2025. West Indies are currently placed seventh. Sri Lanka led by Chamari Athapaththu had successful previous tours in South Africa and also T-20 qualifying tournament in Dubai expected to put up a good challenge against West Indies .
