Mahinda proposes to give Yohani a land from Colombo

It is reported that the government is considering giving a ten perch plot of land in Colombo to Yohanida Silva, an internationally acclaimed young singer who gained prominence through the recreated song ‘Menike Mage Hithe’.

The relevant proposal will be presented by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs at the Cabinet meeting to be held today (20), ‘Lankadeepa’ reports.

The government has decided to grant her this land in view of the acclaim she has gained by taking a Sri Lankan song internationally as a new generation singer.

It is proposed to grant her the plot of land at Robert Gunawardena Mawatha, Battaramulla which is adjacent to the plots of land given to the members of the Sri Lanka Cricket team who won the 1996 World Cup.
