Gen. election candidate passes away
A candidate who was to contest the upcoming General election under the Democratic National Alliance (post box) ticket from Jaffna district, had suddenly passed away yesterday (Oct. 23) evening.
The deceased is a 34-year-old named Senthilvel Tamilian, a resident of Valvetithurai, Jaffna.
A former member of the Valvettithurai Urban Council, he was to contest from the Uduppiddy constituency at the upcoming General Election.
Four days ago, he was admitted to the Point Pedro hospital after falling ill and was later transferred to the Jaffna Base Hospital.
The postmortem is to be done at the Jaffna Base Hospital, reports say.
