SC rejects YouTuber Ashen’s petition
The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka today (Oct. 23) rejected a petition filed by YouTuber Ashen Senarathna challenging the Election Commission’s decision to reject his nomination to contest the upcoming General Election.
The Election Commission had previously rejected the nomination list of Ashen’s independent group, from the Colombo District.
The Commission disqualified the group, stating that the nomination papers were submitted by an unauthorized individual.
This was followed by Ashen venting his frustration on social media.
